Bridges

In my travels, I took these pictures and the only thing that comes to my mind is this song which happens to be one of my favorites:

BRIDGES by Dianne Reeves

I have crossed a thousand bridges in my search for something real
There were great suspension bridges made like spider webs of steel
There were tiny wooden trusses and there were bridges made of stone
I have always been a stranger and I've always been alone.

There's a bridge to tomorrow, there's a bridge from the past
There's a bridge made of sorrow that I pray will not last
There's a bridge made of color in the sky high above
And I pray that there must be bridges made out of love.

I can see him in the distance on the river's other shore
And his arms reach out in longing as my own have done before
And I call across to tell him where I believe the bridge must lie
And I'll find it, yes I'll find it if I search until I die.

When the bridge is between us we'll have nothing to say
We will run through the sunlight and he'll meet me halfway
There's a bridge made of color in the sky high above
And I know that there must be bridges made out of love.

I've never heard of that song before but the words are beautiful.

I love the photos because, for some reason (I don't know what!), bridges highly interest me. If I could go back and choose a different occupation I'd have been an engineer and designed wonderful bridges! :D

Wow, that's a lot of bridges :-)

I envy the travelling that you've done, but I'm happy for you too :-)

Beautiful pictures ... and lovely song.

There's something about bridges ... when I'm traveling and see one I always have to cross it. Maybe, in my heart, I think there is something magical on the other side.

Thanks for sharing these!

Dan: Thanks for your ever generous compliments. Coming from you, it meant a lot to an amateur like me.

Lesley: The song Bridges is probably older than you but it's worth listening to. It had several versions, like the one sang by Sergio Mendez and Brazil 77, I guess. You can check it out in the web.

Carol: I wish you can travel a lot, too, in the near future. I can just imagine the wealth photos you can take and share with us.

Ron: I just got the idea of taking pictures of bridges from the movie BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. Mine is a very, very poor imitation. Most of my pictures were taken from inside the car while cruising at a speed I can never imagine could give me decent pictures at all.

Annie: Thanks for always dropping by and giving me your latest address. I followed you there.

Small Footprints: I agree with you that there is always something magical about bridges. It's nice to know someone shares my view.
